Sharks recall Marcus Sorensen

Is another debut on its way?

The San Jose Sharks recalled Marcus Sorensen on Monday according to CapFriendly.com. That’s backed up by the transactions page on theahl.com and may mean another rookie debut is on its way in a season that has seen its fair share. Stay open minded as the Sharks have yet to send a press release announcing the roster move. The situation is fluid.

Kevin Labanc, Timo Meier and Tim Heed were sent down to the Barracuda on Sunday and only Meier was recalled today. The Barracuda play the Heat on Tuesday while the Sharks begin a four-game road trip in Buffalo — not exactly an ideal situation for shuttling players back and forth.

If Sorensen’s call up is for real it’s an interesting one. He has 27 points in 39 games (0.69 points per game), which is solid but doesn’t top the ‘Cuda players still waiting for a shot with the SHarks this season. Sorry Nikolay Goldobin! Both play right wing and could slot in for Joonas Donskoi, who seems to be out longer than expected.

I’ll update with more information if/when we get it.
