Remember that one time when we weren’t sure if Patrick Marleau still had anything left in the tank? Not me, obviously. And not you, of course. We both believed. Obviously. But those other people. The haters and losers that didn’t believe in Mr. Shark are sure looking like a bunch of idiots now, aren’t they?
Tomas Hertl scored a beautiful game-winning goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night, but we’ll all remember the assist that set it up. Don’t worry, Tomas knows where his bread is buttered, too. Okay, okay. We all want to see the play again. Here it is.
And here’s a better look at Marleau’s portion of the play, since NHL.com didn’t think it was worth giving you the full look.
In fairness, one of these players is Matt Hunwick, but oh my god how is it possible that Marleau can still make plays like this at his age? He backs in, drags three Toronto defenders and then sauces a perfect pass to Hertl who makes a perfect shot to beat Frederik Andersen. Nothing better.
Marleau now has 36 points in 62 games and points in his past three contests. He is up to a 0.58 points per game run.
