Did you notice Joe Pavelski had a very good week? He scored a league-best five goals and notched an assist over four games to help lead the Sharks to three wins. The NHL week goes from Monday-Sunday and ended on March 12.
Pavelski has 61 points in 68 games and his 26 goals are second only to Brent Burns’ 27. Hopefully this has a similar affect on the Wookiee’s scoring to when Patrick Marleau went on his little hot streak. Wookiees don’t like to lose.
The Captain has some work to do to catch up to his scoring from last season. He tallied 38 goals a year ago, but he’s well on his way to matching his assist output (40 last year compared to 35 this campaign).
Here are a look at his five tallies from the past week:
We start with Pavelski burying a rebound against the Jets. Melker Karlsson puts a great shot on net that is saved by Connor Hellebuyck, but the puck falls into the crease and Pavelski isn’t sufficiently kept at bay.
Next is an empty-net tally that just so happens to be on Joe Thornton’s 1000th career assist.
Now we get a Pavelskian tip against the Washington. This isn’t Brent Burns’ goal, nor is it a power-play goal. Sorry guys.
Are you starting to get the sense for why the Dallas Stars are so bad this year? This is one of two goals Pavelski scored on the rush against Dallas last night. It’s a beauty of a shot and just one example of how the Dallas netminders have been victimized this year.
Lmao Dallas, you’re so embarrassing.
