Sharks sign Noah Rod to entry level deal

The Sharks made the Noah Rod signing official today. We reported on the report (nice) yesterday and today general manager Doug Wilson announced the transaction. Here’s what the GM had to say about the second-round draft pick from 2014:

"Noah plays with a tenacious, feisty edge which makes him a difficult player for opponents to play against," said Wilson. "He has continued to grow his overall game the past few seasons, playing against men in Switzerland's top professional league, and we think his combination of grit and skill will translate well in North America. We are excited for him to make the move."

In 137 career games in the top Swiss league between 2013-17, Rod tallied 37 points. He will join the San Jose Barracuda, who are currently atop the American Hockey League standings. He should provide some more depth scoring for a team that is firing on all cylinders and just got back its top scorer in Danny O’Regan.

Rod will fight for a spot with the Sharks next season, though I fully expect him to need a full season with the ‘Cuda before he’s expected to factor in with the big club.
