Logan Couture flew home with team, status unclear

Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em

NHL: San Jose Sharks at Nashville Predators Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Logan Couture flew home with the team today after taking a puck to the mouth on Saturday night. His status remains unclear, though the following tweet from his father doesn’t exactly fill me with glowing optimism.

We know he lost teeth, but unfortunately not much more. Here’s what Friend of the Blog Kevin Kurz had to say:

Another source close to the situation told CSN the injury is “brutal.”

Couture, who lost several teeth, visited with Sharks medical personnel on Sunday and a further update is expected on Monday.

When it rains ... fire comes down from the sky. Couture joins Chris Tierney, Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Melker Karlsson in the infirmary. It goes without saying San Jose can’t survive without that group of players; and that’s beyond how poorly the team is playing with most of those guys in the lineup.

Here’s to hoping the injury isn’t as serious as it appears and that Couture recovers quickly.
