Sharks finalize opening night roster

Three final cuts put the finishing touches on the 2018-19 Sharks.

In their final round of training camp cuts, the Sharks have reassigned three players to their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda:

Dylan Gambrell - F
Lukas Radil - F
Antoine Bibeau - G

Bibeau was put on waivers yesterday, in a mass waiver-wire that tends to happen just before the start of the season. While two goaltenders, both from Toronto, were claimed, Bibeau cleared, giving him the Barracuda starting job for this season.

Gambrell and Radil going down the hall means that Rourke Chartier has made the opening night roster and will likely be part of a rotating cast of fourth line players, barring injuries. After coming back from a concussion last year and an impressive preseason showing, it is certainly well-earned.

The Sharks didn’t send down any defensemen, as both Tim Heed and Radim Simek would have to clear waivers to be added to the Barracuda roster. For now, the Sharks will carry eight defensemen.
