Kyle ditched us to spend the holiday with his family and Joe Thornton got put on injured reserve. I’m not saying they’re related but it’s enough to make me suspicious.
With Erik Fowle filling in, we answer some questions about fancy stats and what to do without Jumbo Joe Thornton in the lineup. We look at last week’s games and vent our frustrations about how the Sharks are #ActuallyGood, just incredible unlucky. The bold predictions are back with a brand new point system and we start checking in on the Ottawa Senators, since they’re basically a Sharks B....uhhhhh C-squad now.
Mentioned in this episode:
- The original article that looks at what makes secondary assists statistically insignificant. And here’s some further reading on secondary assists that is more recent.
- Molly make some really incredible artwork for us, check out her work, including the comic Blueliners and the Player A Day series — which is where Brenden Dillon’s Twitter icon comes from — on her website here.
- We thank them every week, but The Honey Wilders are playing a show soon and you can get more info on that on their Facebook page.
- Finally, this is the thread of Sean Tierney charts Sie mentions to prove the Sharks are very good, if not incredibly unlucky:
