Sharks at Hurricanes: Lines, gamethread, and where to watch

The Sharks (27-16-8, 2nd Pacific) head south, hopefully to build on some positive momentum for a change, with a visit to Raleigh and the Carolina Hurricanes (24-20-8, 7th Metropolitan). You may remember the last time these two teams met: 'twas a dark and stormy night the seventh of December, and the Sharks erased two separate three goal deficits to win a barn burner 5-4 overtime game here in San Jose. If we get anything half that exciting this morning we may have to skip the Big Game to sleep it off.

Fortunately for Sharks fans, Carolina is coming off of a disheartening 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night. Unfortunately for said Sharks fans, the 'Canes were on a bit of a run just before that, and will be looking to secure their fourth win in five games today.

The Sharks just ended an ugly four game losing streak with a convincing two point outing over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Everyone's favorite underrated (TM) defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic tied his career high in goals (9) with a backhand beauty of an insurance marker to put the Jackets away and stave off the Ducks, Flames, and Kings nipping at their heels.

Cruising at a symmetrical but unimpressive 1-1-1 on the road trip so far, the Sharks will have to bank some more points today against a team that's 12-8-4 at home in order to cling to a playoff spot until Joe Thornton's new bionic body is ready for launch.
