According to Paul Gackle of the Mercury News, San Jose Sharks forward Barclay Goodrow had surgery on his finger last night.
#SJSharks DeBoer said that Goodrow had surgery on his finger yesterday. Out for foreseeable future.— Paul Gackle (@GackleReport) March 29, 2018
Goodrow was injured early on in the game against St. Louis last Tuesday. There is no timetable for his return as of now.
Joel Ward is the likely replacement for Goodrow on the fourth line, as he drew into the line rushes at this mornings game day skate. Ward will play center in Eric Fehr’s continued absence. He will be flanked by Marcus Sorensen and Jannik Hansen.
This is another in a string of minor injuries which have plagued Goodrow’s short career with the big club in San Jose.
Goodrow has seven goals and seven assists in 47 games this season with the Sharks. However, he had been making an impact on the fourth line as of late, recording four points in the last five games, including a two-point effort against New Jersey.
This will only further hinder Goodrow’s development, as this injury could potentially keep him out for the first round of the playoffs and possibly beyond.
