Dylan Gambrell to make NHL debut

Welcome to the show!

One week after signing an entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks, center Dylan Gambrell will be making his NHL debut tonight as the Sharks face the already eliminated Dallas Stars. He is expected to slot into the fourth-line center position while Eric Fehr remains injured.

The fourth-line center role has seen a rotating cast this season, with another former NCAA center in Daniel O’Regan tested there several times over the last two years before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres at the deadline. No doubt the Sharks are limiting Gambrell’s minutes, as he’s unproven at a professional level. Hopefully Marcus Sorensen can find chemistry with him, as he and O’Regan did for much of the year with the San Jose Barracuda.

Other line up changes include Evander Kane taking his first night off as a Shark, as he’s injured.

With the Sharks having punched their playoff ticket early, we may see more line shuffling in these few low-risk games remaining.
