The San Jose Sharks have traded Chris Tierney, Dylan DeMelo, Josh Norris, Rudolfs Balcers, and a 2019 first or second round pick and 2019 second round pick to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Erik Karlsson and prospect winger Francis Perron. The trade aslo includes two conditonal picks, with both conditions laid out below:

Karlsson was the winner of the Norris Trophy in 2012 and 2015. He will join 2017 winner Brent Burns on the Sharks’ blueline.
Karlsson carries a $6.5 million cap hit and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2018-2019 season. There's no word yet on plans to extend Karlsson's contract.
