After one preseason game, the San Jose Sharks have narrowed their roster to 44 players.
Four players will return to their juniors clubs:
Joachim Blichfeld - F
Ivan Chekhovich - F
Vladislav Kotkov - F
Max Paddock - G
Twelve other players have been assigned to the San Jose Barracuda:
Michael Brodzinski - D
Cody Donaghey - D
Thomas Gregoire - D
Matt Fonteyne - F
Zach Frye - D
Josef Korenar - G
Jonathon Martin - F
Colby McAuley - F
Filip Sandberg - F
Alex Schoenborn - F
Jeffrey Viel - F
Evan Weinger - F
The most surprising cut is probably Ivan Chekhovich, who made a major impression in his first preseason game with 2 goals and 1 assist in the Sharks’ 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks. It’s also interesting that goaltender Josef Korenar isn’t going to get a shot in a preseason game this year and will have to prove himself at the AHL level.
