Yesterday it came out that Corey Perry underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus and MCL injuries on his right knee. His timetable for return is set for five months, meaning he’ll miss most, if not all, of the Anaheim Ducks season. That same injury may have been aggravating him as far back as last year, resulting in a comparatively lackluster season for Perry.
But he wasn’t the only knee injury that came out yesterday. The Columbus Blue Jackets announced that defenseman Seth Jones will miss four to six weeks with an MCL sprain. Jones suffered the injury on Tuesday night while playing against the Buffalo Sabres. Jones may not return before the Sharks face the Blue Jackets on November 1.
Both teams are losing a major player for a significant amount of time. And as Sharks fans know, knee injuries can be a tricky one to come back from. This is a huge blow for both teams.
