2019 NHL Draft: Every San Jose Sharks pick
No first round pick for the Sharks, but still a chance to build up the prospect pool.
Over the last 12 months or so, General Manager Doug Wilson has gone all in for the San Jose Sharks. He’s traded away first round picks and young NHL players with the hopes of bringing a Stanley Cup to San Jose. As a result, there’s not a lot of draft picks on the table for San Jose this year.
Barring a crazy trade by Wilson, the Sharks will not have a first-round pick in this year’s draft or next. But the Sharks have traditionally picked well in the later rounds, so San Jose still has the opportunity to add some quality young players to the prospect pool.

The Sharks' first-round pick this year is in the hands of the Anaheim Ducks, who will use it for pick No. 29 at the draft. The pick was initially traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 2018 for Evander Kane. The Sabres traded that pick to the Ducks in exchange for defenseman Brandon Montour.
The pick became a first-round pick when Kane re-signed with the Sharks. The second condition on the pick was that it would be a 2019 first-round pick if the Sharks made the made the 2019 playoffs, which they did.
The Sharks also lost their fourth round pick (No. 122) to the Sabres as part of the Kane trade.
San Jose’s second-round pick was initially supposed to be 60th overall, but that was traded to the Detroit Red Wings for Gustav Nyquist in February of this year. The Sharks obtained a new second-round pick earlier this week when they traded Justin Braun to the Philadelphia Flyers.
