Sharks acquire Brandon Davidson from Flames

Rounding out the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline, the San Jose Sharks have acquired defender Brandon Davidson from the Calgary Flames in exchange for future considerations.

Davidson is a 28-year-old left-handed defender who comes in on a league-minimum $700,000 contract and will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He has played seven games with the Flames this season, recording no points or penalty minutes and skating a -2. However, with the AHL Stockton Heat, where he wore an “A,” the defender has totaled 20 points (3 goals, 17 assists) in 34 games.

Originally drafted in the sixth round (162 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Davidson has spent time with the Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks prior to signing with the Flames. In 162 NHL games played, he has notched nine goals and 14 assists, as well as 78 penalty minutes.
