The East has been decided and the Tampa Bay Lightning will face the New York Islanders in the Conference Final. The West is the final division to wrap up, as the Montreal Canadiens await finding out who their opponent will be in the Western Conference Final. Can the Colorado Avalanche force a Game 7, or will the Vegas Golden Knights outlast them?
From Knights On Ice:
The first four games were fairly one-sided, regardless of the final result of Game 2. Colorado thrashed the Knights in Game 1, and Vegas outplayed the Avalanche in the following three.
Tonight is almost a series of its own, but if the Knights continue to do what they’ve been doing, they have a very strong chance of moving on to the third round for the third time in four years.
Anything can happen in playoff hockey, and two out of five games have gone to extra time. However, tonight’s matchup likely will come down to a few factors: goaltending, depth production and discipline.
From Mile High Hockey:
Winning the Stanley Cup is never easy. It’s one of the hardest things to do in sports. They also say, you’re never in trouble until you lose at home. Well, the Avalanche lost at home in Game 5, and have given all the momentum back to the Vegas Golden Knights who, like the Avalanche, were next to impossible to beat at home this season.
But the Avalanche will need to find a way.
For the Avalanche the room for error is now gone. All the excuses have faded away and it’s time to put your words into actions. The task at hand, win a road game in Vegas to keep your season alive. Simple right? Nothing more than making sure by the end of the game, you have at least one more goal than Vegas.
