Deep Blue Sea: Hockey family planning

Plus an illegal streamer is taken down, Kane is missing and more in today’s news and notes.

I think we can all use a bit of levity after this week in hockey and luckily Arpon Basu of the Athletic came in clutch with a story that reminds us of the little things we love about this dumb sport.

Basu caught up with Phillip Danault, the now Los Angeles Kings forward, who was part of last summer’s Stanley Cup Final Montreal Canadiens team. Danault had a lovely life update: he’s going to be a dad, as he and his wife are expecting a little girl.

Of course, family planning as a professional athlete is serious business, so the Danaults were certainly hyper-aware of when they conceived, and well ...

I guess he did score in the playoffs after all.

That opened up the opportunity to talk family planning in hockey and Lexi Brown — PhD, mom, Twitter legend and I guess Seattle Kraken analyst J.T. Brown’s wife — gave this glimpse into the erm, work, that goes into making sure that due date falls at a convenient time:

Congratulations on all the sex, everybody.
