When you’re watching a Sharks game, and about halfway through wonder if Joe Thornton’s been on the ice tonight…

… so you start watching line changes and looking for him, noticing he’s running out there as often as he ever does…

… and you start paying close attention to him, especially when the Sharks are in the Ducks zone…

… and notice he’s working his butt off on every shift trying to make things happen…

… and they’re not happening because he’s wearing one or more Anaheim players like feathers on a… oh, you know…

… chances are good to excellent San Jose won’t be winning the game.

Although Ron Wilson doesn’t think so, the Sharks did most everything right last night.  They were physical.  They worked hard.  But they couldn’t convert, even when the puck was sitting in the crease begging to be put in the net.  They simply got beat by a team that is not only the defending Stanley Cup champion, but also has its glue back in the presence of Scott Niedermayer.  It’s going to happen.  And it’s up to the Sharks to figure out a way of not having any more last nights.  Period.
