The Sharks sleptwalk through the first period of this decidedly lackluster contest, and were fortunate to end the period behind only 1-0. They decided to start playing in the second period, but by then it was too late as Jose Theodore was putting on a performance that Patrick Roy would have applauded. Maybe next time, try... oh, I don't know... starting to play at the opening faceoff?
