After an intense day of working the phones, the San Jose Sharks have probably sussed out that the plan isn’t exactly playoffs this season.
It’s about to be a tank-off against the Anaheim Ducks, who are on track to finish last in the West Division. The Ducks did make a bit of a big move today, swapping defenders with the Carolina Hurricanes to bring Hadyn Fleury to the Western Conference. Wednesday is the last time these two teams will play each other, so it’s unlikely the Sharks will get a glimpse of the newcomer.
The Ducks are on the second half of a back-to-back, having lost 4-1 to the Colorado Avalanche in Anaheim last night. Rookie defender Jamie Drysdale scored the only goal for Anaheim, while John Gibson made 33 saves on 37 shots. Anthony Stolarz will start for the Ducks tonight, with Ryan Miller as back up.
