The San Jose Sharks are starting to whittle down the roster and that means its time for a little payback. On Monday night, the Ducks trotted out a mostly NHL-ready roster against the rookie-level Sharks and leveled the young players, beating the kids by a 3-2 score. Now, it’s time for the Sharks to show the Ducks younger guns a bit of what the NHL is like. The Sharks welcome the Ducks to SAP Center for the only home matchup between the two teams.
A quick bit of arena business to get out of the way. If you’re at the game tonight, look up in the rafters and check out the banners. The Sharks have apparently fixed the banner mix up from earlier.

To the more important news now, the roster moves. Earlier this week, the Sharks made the team’s deepest cuts to the training camp to date, sending several players down to the San Jose Barracuda and placing several more on waivers to be sent to the ‘Cuda. That led the AHL affiliate to tweet this out this morning.

That means there are only a few players still with the Sharks who are fighting for jobs. The following forwards are still left with the Sharks after Patrick Giles was placed on waivers earlier today:
- Egor Afanasyev
- Ethan Cardwell
- Collin Graf
- Donavan Houle
- Cam Lund
- Michael Misa
- Quentin Musty
- Zack Ostapchuk
- Pavol Regenda
- Colin White
On defense, the following players are still with the team:
- Luca Cagnoni
- Lucas Carlsson
- Sam Dickinson
- Shakir Mukhamadullin
- Jack Thompson
The goaltenders are already down to two, so we’re set there.
That means, look for some serious play as these players compete for the final spots on the roster for opening night.
