With Avs players falling sick, could the Sharks see Patrick Roy tonight?
Calvin Pickard has fallen ill and didn't participate in morning skate. Who might be their emergency backup?
Am I excited about the possibility of seeing Patrick Roy with goalie equipment on again? You can bet your ass I am.
A report coming from Terry Frei of the Denver Post said that at the Avalanche morning skate that Calvin Pickard has fallen ill along with players Erik Johnson and Mikhail Grigorenko. Normal starter Semyon Varlamov is back in Colorado making the situation all the more intriguing. This leaves 3rd goalie Roman Will as the lone active goalie at morning skate.
While this unknown virus is obviously not something you want to wish on anyone, this does put them in a precarious spot as they are right at the 50 contract limit. Frei was nice enough to tweet out a photo of Roy at morning skate in full pads for all of us to see.
other goalie w/ Roman Will at the morning skate is ... Patrick Roy. Pickard at hotel, sick. Same with johnson, Grigo pic.twitter.com/EA6w5dHZzE

Frei then took our hearts and ripped them out when he spoke with Roy after morning skate. Roy stated that Pickard should be well enough to make the start tonight. While our dreams may have been dashed, I for one would have been excited to see Roy coaching while wearing his equipment.
We can at least dream, can't we?
