-Obviously the Sharks didn’t dominate this game to the same extent that they dominated the previous game, but I don’t think there’s any mistaking who the better team was in this game, as San Jose outchanced Arizona 28-16.

-A big reason for San Jose’s huge scoring chance numbers was the effectiveness of the powerplay last night, as it generated 8 scoring chances. The PK wasn’t great last night, but it did generate a shorthanded chance.

-Pavs was fantastic last night, amassing 5 scoring chances at evens last night, as he and some of the younger players like Karlsson, Hertl, and Wingels, really put up good numbers.

-For Arizona, it’s hard to ignore the numbers for the “that 20s line,” (Szwarz-Chipchura-Cunningham). They were absolutely awful in this game, as the best SC differential managed by a player on that line was a -11 (the worst differential on the Sharks was a -1).

-Arizona’s second line had a pretty effective game in the offensive zone, as both Moss and Erat managed 4 even strength scoring chance points.

-In this game, the Sharks put up one of their lowest totals for pass attempts that we’ve seen from them yet, and when you look at Thornton’s numbers here, it’s not hard to guess why.

-Tierney’s line wasn’t as effective in this game as they were a couple nights ago, but they were still making plays in the offensive zone, as that line managed 18 total pass attempts, and 2 of those were PLSCs.

-Ben Smith’s line here is not pretty. Straight zeroes for him.

-Erat and Doan were the Coyotes’ most active players in the offensive zone in this game, not only accounting for over half of ARI’s PLSCs, but also almost half of their pass attempts.

-Vitale and Cunningham were very inactive in the offensive zone in this game, as they each only managed 1 shot attempt, and nothing else in the offensive zone.

-The first line was dominant on entries last night, as Pavs especially put on a show in the neutral zone.

-Marleau put up good numbers as well, but no other Shark really put up numbers that were that impressive.

-McGinn, Erat, and Gagner put up good numbers for Arizona, as Arizona’s numbers in this game weren’t overly impressive, though the amount of shot attempts they generated off of carry-ins sure was.

-Stollery was targeted for a bunch of entries in this game, and he handled himself pretty well, only allowing 5 carry-ins against on the 16 entries Arizona attempted against him.

-Braun was really the only defenseman who didn’t put up good numbers in this game (excluding Irwin, whose numbers were terribad), finishing his night with a 70.0% carry-in against percentage.

-Arizona’s top D-pairing allowed a lot of carry-ins in this game, allowing San Jose to carry the puck in on 12 out of their 16 entry attempts against Ekman-Larsson and Stone.

Not Antoine Vermette put up good numbers in this game, allowing only 6 carry-ins against on San Jose’s 14 entry attempts against him.

-Many Sharks put up decent numbers in this game, but Thornton and Tierney especially put up good numbers, as neither turned the puck over at all during their zone exit forays.

-Burns bounced back from a pretty poor zone exit performance a couple nights ago with a much better effort last night, managing 3 successful break-outs, while only turning it over 4 times.

-Gagner, Doan, and Moss were a few of the Coyotes who put up good exit numbers in this game, as did McGinn, who is apparently continuing to excel at the one thing he ever really did well in San Jose.
