Canucks at Sharks game 79: Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks are in the final stretch of the season and while the team is still mathematically in the hunt for a playoff spot, most fans know that the search for the playoffs is over. Which is why tonight’s showdown with the worst team in the league, the Vancouver Canucks has fans tied up in knots. On the one hand, the final home game of the season is a good way for the Sharks to say thank you by beating up on a division rival. However, a win could also doom the Sharks to pick in the teens in the upcoming draft, which is not ideal.

Not much is going the Canucks’ way this season. The team is currently a minus-98 goal differential and is 1-9-0 in its last ten. Vancouver has lost its last four games and its last three to the Sharks. The Sharks beat the Canucks 5-2 on Jan. 27, 6-3 on Dec. 27 and 3-2 on Nov. 28.

Elias Pettersson (the forward) is the team’s top scorer. He has 48 points. Brock Boeser leads the team with 21 goals.

For the Sharks, San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng reports that Ty Dellandrea, Philipp Kurashev, Pavol Regenda and John Klingberg were the last ones on the ice for practice this morning, so they won’t play. Yaroslav Askarov was the first one off the ice, so he’ll likely start.
