Coyotes at Sharks Preview: Let’s try this again

The last time the Sharks played the Coyotes, on Thursday night, things didn’t go exactly as planned for San Jose. After having two goals waived off (the second of which almost certainly should have counted) and allowing a bad goal late in the third, the Sharks had to take the loss.

Tonight they get to try again. Coming off yesterday’s big win against the Rangers, the Sharks may be tired, but it won’t provide any advantage to the Coyotes, as they also played last night (and lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning). San Jose’s lineup will be the same as yesterday, except backup James Reimer will be playing instead of Martin Jones.

A win tonight coupled with an Anaheim loss (they’re currently down 1-0 in the first period) will put the Sharks in second place in the Pacific Division.

We all remember this one, unfortunately.

Storylines

  • Both the Sharks and the Coyotes are going to be missing their best defensemen. Marc Edouard Vlasic is day-to-day while Oliver Ekman-Larsson has missed the Coyotes last five games due to a shoulder problem.
  • The Kings clinched a playoff spot last night and with a seven point lead over the Sharks they seem to have the division locked up.
  • Coyotes backup Louis Domingue started yesterday, so the Sharks will be facing Mike Smith tonight.
