Danny O’Regan Named to AHL All-Rookie Team

Danny O’Regan has been named to the 2016-17 AHL All-Rookie Team. The 23-year-old forward has had a massive season with the San Jose Barracuda, leading them in points with 54 total in 58 games. His 21 goals have helped the Barracuda atop the Pacific Division and clinch a playoff spot.

The other selections include goaltender Casey DeSmith (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins), defender Devon Toews (Bridgeport Sound Tigers), defender Kyle Wood (Tucson Roadrunners), forward Jake Guentzel (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins), and forward Mark Jankowski (Stockton Heat).

Born in Berlin, O’Regan grew up in Massachusetts. He played with the USNDT and won gold with the 2012 U-18 team, the same year he was drafted 138th overall by the Sharks. He later enrolled at Boston University where he became no stranger to awards, having earned a selection to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team as a freshman, named to the NCAA All-Regional Team as a junior, and named Hockey East First Team All-Star as a senior. Recently, he represented the Barracuda at the AHL All Star Classic.

O’Regan is the first to earn this honor since the Sharks’ affiliate moved to San Jose last season. It had previously been won by Logan Couture and Alex Stalock of the Worcester Sharks in 2010.
