Devin Setoguchi’s hat trick gives Sharks a commanding 3-0 series lead over Wings

For the second straight postseason in a row the San Jose Sharks went into Joe Louis Arena with a 2-0 series lead. In what was previously a house of horrors for the Sharks, a place where dreams went to die, the Red Wings attempted to defend their home ice.

And for the second straight year in a row, the San Jose Sharks prevailed.

With less than five minutes remaining in the third period, and San Jose down by a goal, the Sharks found themselves in a place they were a year before– looking for a goal to extend the game into overtime. Instead of Logan Couture, it was Dan Boyle. And as the game went into overtime, the Wings continued to press. But much like Nabokov before him, Antti Niemi withstood the waves of Red Wings crashing the net.

Instead of Patrick Marleau tonight was Devin Setoguchi‘s night to shine. But the one constant throughout it all was Joe Thornton, who assisted on the game winning goal for the second straight year in a row. Thornton would go on to finish the game with 3 assists on the night.

The weekend will kick off with game four, and with it comes yet another 3-0 series lead. Make no mistake, the Fat Lady has not begun to sing just yet.

But rest assured she’ll be sitting right next to Kid Rock on Friday night in JLA.
