Finnish newspaper confirms Donskoi contract, reports terms of ELC

Following up on yesterday’s rumblings regarding the Sharks signing 23-year-old Liiga playoff MVP Joonas Donskoi to an entry-level contract, Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat is now officially reporting San Jose has inked the forward to a 2-year deal at $925,000 a season. Here’s ESPN writer and scout Corey Pronman on what Donskoi might bring to the table for the Sharks next season:

Playing alongside Panthers forwards Aleksander Barkov and Jussi Jokinen, Florida’s 2010 fourth round draft pick recently tallied five goals and eight points for Team Finland at the 2015 IIHF World Championships in Prague. Donskoi also won the Jari Kurri award as the Finnish Elite League’s postseason MVP this year. Here’s his highlight-reel goal from Game 7 of the Liiga Final between his Karpat squad and Tappara:
