Four Facts And A Question
I didn't get the chance to watch the Buffalo game in full. I already knew the final score by the time I sat down to watch the third period, which isn't a sufficient enough sample size for me to offer any sort of critique. Craig Rivet is a beast. The Sharks gave up the lead with 4 seconds remaining on the clock. Fact.
This the Sharks record in the month of February.
Fact.
This is what David Pollak had to say before tonight's game (emphasis mine).
Ryane Clowe and Dan Boyle skipped the morning skate as the flu bug spread around the locker room. Coach Todd McLellan said Clowe would definitely miss tonight’s game, and Boyle was pretty unlikely to play, too.
Fact.
Numerous other NHL websites offer post-game interviews with coaches and players online. The Sharks are not one of them. Fact.
My question is, why don't the Sharks provide this? For a team that is based in the hub of Silicon Valley (the most advanced technological area in the United States, if not the world) it is a questionable decision. For a team that has been tops in the league for the last four years and is having an amazing season, it's damn near criminal.
In order to understand what is going on right now, it would be a treat to hear it from the top. What did McLellan say after tonight's game? Is the flu problem an issue or does the lack of effort in the last few games have no excuse? Sure we've been dropping games in the shootout (I could care less), but before the ASG game we had the habit of burying teams well before that could ever occur.
I'm not concerned, but I am.
