Game Thread: Sharks and Wings tied at 1 after first period

Niemi comes up huge a couple times in the first, keeps San Jose in the game through the first ten minutes. Setoguchi with a tap in on the power play to open the scoring in the game, Lidstrom comes back for Detroit and puts one past Niemi with 19.3 seconds left in the first period. Zetterberg with an excellent through the legs pass to set that one up.

That last goal is a deflating one considering the Sharks could have escaped a period (in which they got outplayed by a fairly wide margin) with the lead, but them’s the breaks. Second periods have been great for San Jose this series, so hopefully we’ll see an improved performance from the first period.

Again, Niemi. Man. He’s been excellent thus far.
