Gameday Thread: San Jose Sharks @ Phoenix Coyotes

Douglas Murray will be out tonight after sustaining an injury last night against Anaheim. Colin White will replace him in the lineup.

Antti Niemi will be in net tonight for San Jose, while Mike Smith gets the call for Phoenix.

Some more notes to tide you over before puck drop:

  • This is obviously an absolutely essential game for the Sharks to have– with the Western Conference playoff race down to four teams, and the Coyotes trailing San Jose by one point for the 8 seed, a loss tonight (whether in regulation or extra time) would drop San Jose out of the playoffs.
  • Dallas and Los Angeles are idle tonight, meaning San Jose and Phoenix will have played one extra game than those two teams when the clock strikes midnight.
  • Kevin Kurz of CSN’s Sharks Talk blog discusses Douglas Murray being out of the lineup.
  • EA Sports is giving fans the opportunity to vote for the NHL ’13 cover athlete. The first round matchup for San Jose will be Logan Couture vs. Brent Burns. You can vote here. /

Puck drops at 7:07 PM.
