Per Sportsnet:

San Jose’s Mike Grier has escaped suspension for his hit on Chicago’s Aaron Johnson in the Sharks’ 3-2 overtime victory Wednesday night, Sportsnet has learned.
Instead, Grier was fined $1,000 after he hit Johnson into the boards in the second period. Johnson remained on the ice for several minutes before leaving the game. Grier was given a five-minute boarding major and a game misconduct.

I explained my reasoning as to why I though Grier should get a three game suspension in the San Jose-Chicago wrap up comments, and still stand by that assertion. That being said, I’m not complaining.

Chime in again if you feel it’s necessary. After this weekend (Dallas and Phoenix back to back) I doubt we’ll be talking about it.

No word on the severity of Johnson’s injury, but I assume he’ll be day to day.
