If You Can't Beat 'Em... Get One Of Your Own

Now we know why Doug Wilson was saying "can't talk about it because of tampering rules" when asked about the Sharks head coach search while the season was still a going concern.  Todd McLellan, most recently seen hoisting the Cup courtesy of being an assistant coach with the Red Wings, has been tabbed as the new leader of Los Tiburones de San José with the introduction taking place tomorrow.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the man now responsible for
lighting a fire under Joe Thornton come playoff time.

For someone with no head coaching experience in the NHL, McLellan's résumé is solid: three seasons as assistant with Detroit, four years as head coach in the AHL with a Calder Cup among his accomplishments.

If McLellan can install the work ethic and discipline in San Jose that has been evidenced in Detroit, especially in the post-season, he will have a statue erected in his honor in front of the Tank.  For now, a hearty welcome and here's a hope for othing but good things to come from this hire.
