Injury Update: Melker Karlsson probable for Tuesday

Melker Karlsson and Joel Ward were both late scratches in Saturday’s overtime loss to the Blackhawks. We have some information on why they missed that contest and their status for Tuesday’s tilt against the Kings thanks to Friend of the Blog Kevin Kurz.

It turns out Karlsson had the flu but is (mostly) recovered now. They’re calling him probable for tomorrow’s game against the Kings. Meanwhile, Ward isn’t quite so likely.

Ward missed Sunday’s game in Chicago after going head-and-shoulder-first into the boards courtesy of a hit by the SenatorsMark Borowiecki late in the third period on Friday. He was scheduled to see a doctor on Monday.

So, not great. The Sharks certainly have time to call up another forward (hi Barclay Goodrow) in case Karlsson and Ward are both unavailable, though we might not hear anything about that until Tuesday morning. With Logan Couture weeks away, the Sharks could use some good news on the injury front.
