Macklin Celebrini has been making waves (pun intended) in his first year in the NHL. He has become the talk of the town and a form of entertainment for San Jose Sharks fans.
He has been engaging in so many silly activities this year, such as a sleepover with his seemingly best friend, Will Smith and funcle Tyler Toffoli.

Along with things like kicking SJ Sharkie in the face with a ball, becoming the NHL’s profile picture, and making bets with Smith.Â

Naturally, for an 18-year-old, having an early start in the NHL is fun and exciting, and the year goes by so fast.
It all started with draft day, where Celebrini was the #1 overall pick in the NHL draft.

Such an eventful day can be a blur, as Celebrini tells us.
“It’s tough to remember the day exactly. But I mean, it’s a day that you dream of. I think it’s just a whole experience I’ll remember,” said Celebrini.
Moving on through the year, especially the first in the NHL, there are moments worth remembering, and there are the ones that give you chills. Celebrini tells us his:
“Jumbo’s retirement, that was really cool for me. He’s somebody I look up to, a role model,” said Celebrini.

Celebrini is living the dream, and it must be very exciting to get to talk to idols like Thornton and Patrick Marleau about the game. Then, there are the hockey legends that he faces on the ice.
“Ovechkin and Sid, for sure. It was really cool for me,” said Celebrini.
Being a rookie in the NHL comes with some unexpected differences from college.
“The travel is tough; it’s tougher than I thought. There’s nothing really else that shocked me,” said Celebrini.Â
While adjusting seemed to be easy for Celebrini, it took a lot of steps to get here. So, it is vital to have support along the way.Â
“My family’s been everything for me. My mom and my dad were the ones that took me to practice, and with my dad’s background, he helped me train and the right way to do things,” said Celebrini. “My mom was always with me and my siblings growing up, and my siblings are awesome. They’re my best friends.”
Celebrini has had quite the year. He has obtained 53 points so far towards the end of this season, smashing Marleau’s rookie scoring record. As he makes his way to the Calder trophy finish line, Sharks fans are seeing a whole lot of teal in the future. Celebrini is using what he learns this year to build on his game.
“Just trying to get better every day and learn from watching the guys,” said Celebrini.Â
Seeing Celebrini’s growth this year is a reminder that good things take time, and we are all looking forward to his legendary career!
