Mario Ferraro has long been one of the Sharks’ emotional leaders and a steady presence on the blue line as an alternate captain. This summer, he took on a new role — becoming a dad for the first time. And if you know anything about Ferraro, you know that this just adds fuel to his fire.
Ferraro called fatherhood “the best thing in the world” and said his family feels “very blessed.” He added,
“I have a child now to play for, so I’m even more motivated to be out there.”
Like most first-time dads, Ferraro’s been soaking in advice from teammates — especially Logan Couture.
“Take any advice that I can get, the more the merrier,” he said. “Logan’s been great, and even his dad reached out, which I really appreciated.”
When asked about his favorite part of being a dad, Ferraro didn’t hesitate.
“When you get that little smile, it really makes you happy,” he said. “Even after a tough day, just seeing her peaceful and alert is the best.”
Ferraro knows these moments won’t last forever.
“Time flies by,” he said. “Everyone keeps telling me to enjoy the young years.”
Ferraro’s always been a fan favorite because of his energy, positivity, and work ethic. Now he’s got a whole new reason to bring that same passion every single night. Sharks fans already know what kind of leader he is. Now they get to watch him do it as a dad.
