Matt Tennyson recalled by Sharks

The Sharks recalled Matt Tennyson on Sunday, wrapping up the defender’s conditioning assignment with the Barracuda. He last played in Friday’s playoff loss to the Ontario Reign, recording three shots on goal.

It’s unlikely Tennyson will compete for a spot on the Sharks’ blue line in the playoffs, but it’s great to see him back and healthy. Perhaps he’ll be sent back to the Barracuda to help them try to upset Ontario in the first line?

Press release:

SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Matt Tennyson (@Tenner_7) from the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda) of the American Hockey League (@theAHL). He had been assigned to the Barracuda on a conditioning assignment.

Tennyson, 25, has appeared in 29 games with the Sharks this season, scoring one goal and three assists. In five regular season games with the Barracuda, he has recorded 10 shots on goal and a +2 plus/minus rating. Tennyson also played in one playoff game with the Barracuda, registering three shots on goal.

The six-foot-two, 205-pound native of Minneapolis, MN, was signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 29, 2012.
