Monday Chum Bucket: Good Morrow

  • At least for the rest of the 2013 season, Brenden Morrow will no longer be in the Western Conference after being traded to Pittsburgh for defense prospect Joe Morrow yesterday. [Puck Daddy]
  • In addition to the terrific return, trading Morrow helps the Stars create opportunities for their younger players. [Defending Big D]
  • Perhaps relevant to the Sharks‘ interests: the Bruins reportedly offered prospect Alexander Khokhlachev and a 2nd round pick for Morrow but were turned down by Joe Nieuwendyk. Could Ryane Clowe fetch similar value on the trade market? [CSN New England]
  • If he could, it probably won’t be from the Bruins whose interest in Clowe has “diminished” as of late. In other trade rumor news, Paul Holmgren was seen scouting the Sharks in Minnesota and could have interest in Dan Boyle. [CSN Bay Area]
  • But as is always the case this time of year, there’s reason to debunk those rumors as well as a Flyers beat writer claims Philadelphia is not interested in Boyle at this time. [Working the Corners]
  • Is the clock ticking on the Sharks’ playoff hopes? [Mercury News]
  • Brenden Morrow, Jarome Iginla and paying the “experience and grit” premium. [Backhand Shelf]
  • More on Morrow, Iginla, Brian Campbell and Mike Ribeiro in Elliotte Friedman’s 30 Thoughts. [CBC]
