Mystery team pursuing Patrick Marleau
Elliotte Friedman reported on Hockey Night in Canada that a team has approached the Sharks.
In every likelihood, Patrick Marleau will play the rest of his career with the San Jose Sharks. He'll ride off into the sunset, with two three Stanley Cup rings and a bag filled with money.
Probably.
Elliotte Friedman reported on Hockey Night in Canada that a mystery team (mystery to us, anyway) approached the Sharks about acquiring Patrick Marleau. Mr. Shark has not been asked to waive his no movement clause, so it's safe to say San Jose hasn't quite heard what they wanted to yet.
Friedman says Patrick Marleau has not been asked to waive his NMC, but a team is pushing hard to acquire him via trade.

Even if the Sharks get offered a package they like, I'd be very surprised to see Marleau accept a trade to just about anywhere. He's lived in San Jose for a very long time. It's his home and, more importantly, it's where Joe Thornton lives. Still, this is probably something to keep an eye on, if for no other reason than to find out who thinks they can pry Marleau from San Jose's grip.
Update: Here's the video.
