NHL snubs Toronto, gives 2017 All Star Game to Los Angeles
The 2017 All Star festivities will be held at Staples Center
The NHL announced today that the Los Angeles Kings, who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary next season, will host the 2017 NHL All Star game and it's related festivities.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were rumoured to host, as they will celebrating their centennial season next year, but as likely hosts of the Winter Classic and well, a terrible hockey team, the NHL saw the Kings as a more fitting host.
Next year's All Star game will take place on January 29th with the Skills Competition taking place the day before. It will be Los Angeles' third time hosting the event, as they previously hosted in 2002 and 1981. Other details, such as format and ticket information, will be released later.
