The Washington Capitals come into tonight's game reeling- Alexander Semin, Mike Green, and Sergei Federov all are battling various forms of injuries. Semin and Green are both essential ingredients to Washington's special teams, and have played a large part in resurrecting a franchise that was looking to be destined for mediocrity in the near future.

Of course, there is always Alexander Ovechkin (introduction unnecessary). As Mr. K mentioned yesterday, San Jose is one of the three teams he has not potted a goal against. But hold your horses ladies and gentlemen- he seems to have some history with a certain current Sharks netminder.

[Editor's Note]: Remember your SPG Picks for a chance to win a Sharks Banner courtesy of Carrol's Cove.

As it turns out, that goal (which is one of the most well-known goals in the modern NHL era) victimized none other than our very own Brian Boucher.

Charming really.

Boucher gets an opportunity to banish his demons tonight, as Nabokov will be riding the pine. Per King David of WTC:

Evgeni Nabokov’s return to the nets won’t come against Washington. Sharks Coach Todd McLellan said his No. 1 goalie was healthy enough physically to play Saturday night, but the staff thought it made more sense to give him a couple more practices before throwing him into his first game since Nov. 6 when he suffered his lower body injury.

Dun-dun-dun. Do we have a goalie controversy? No. Expected business from Sweeney Todd & Co.

Going back to the Capitals, watch out for Brooks Laich tonight. He was my favorite non-Shark last season (I sort of adopted Washington as my favorite Eastern team during their run to the playoffs), and has a tendency to make big plays when his team needs them the most.

Black Armor premieres tonight at The Tank- let's see how the Sharks fare with their new jerseys in tow.

Prediction: Sharks win 5-3. Goals by Gooch, Boyle, Ehrhoff, Cheech, and Grier.

Go Sharks.
