The San Jose Sharks will host the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center once again tonight and those fans in attendance will get a peek at the brand new heritage jerseys 2.0 just announced by the team. Earlier today, the Sharks organization announced the Heritage 2.0 jerseys similar to the ones worn by the team from 1998 and 2007. That’s a throwback to the days of yore when Patrick Marleau was first coming up in the Sharks’ organization and the team traded for Joe Thornton. Remember the guys like Mike Ricci, Owen Nolan, Scott Hannan, Evgeni Nabokov, Jonathan Cheechoo, Jeff Friesen and more wore the jersey?
The Heritage 2.0 jerseys will be on sale at the Sharks Pro Shop and SAP Center starting tonight. According to the team’s announcement, there will also be other new features to celebrate Team Teal’s 35th anniversary, including a Center Ice Transformation with a new design at center ice that includes 35 gill marks.
The Sharks will also celebrate the anniversary with several alumni games throughout the season and honor Sharks alumni at those games. So far, the following games are slated to be alumni games:
- Thursday, Oct. 30 vs. New Jersey Devils – Jeff Friesen, Kyle McLaren and Mark Smith
- Thursday, Nov. 20 vs. Los Angeles Kings – Joe Thornton Hall of Fame Celebration Game
- Wednesday, Dec. 3 vs. Washington Capitals – Patrick Marleau, Evgeni Nabokov and Mike Ricci
- Sunday, March 1 vs. Winnipeg Jets – Scott Hannan, Owen Nolan and Scott Thornton
As for tonight’s game, the Vegas Golden Knights played at home last night, so consider this somewhat of a split squad game. With Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner and Shea Theodore all playing last night, we’re presuming that those players do not travel with the team today. Look for the Golden Knights to bring some of their younger players on the flight to the Bay Area tonight.
This is what the rosters are expected to look like for both teams tonight:
