Preview: Panthers at Sharks

The Sharks look to get back to winning ways tonight against the Florida Panthers

After a rough loss to the tied-for-last Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night, the Sharks look to get back in the win column at home against Roberto Luongo's Florida Panthers tonight.

The Sharks will have a slightly different lineup going for tonight's game, with Barclay Goodrow being sent down to the Barracuda.

(We'll have official lineups for you after practice this morning.)

Last Meeting

The last time these two met was almost a year ago, and the Sharks fell victim to Roberto Luongo at SAP Center in a shootout, losing by a score of 3-2. They had also played the Panthers only a week earlier, losing again, this time by a score of 4-1.

Storylines
  • Barclay Goodrow has been sent down to the AHL, but as the Sharks didn't practice yesterday we don't know who'll be replacing him just yet.
  • Logan Couture had surgical staples removed from his ankle and took his first steps with a boot this weekend. We still don't have a very good idea of exactly when he'll be returning, but any progress is good news.
  • Both aspects of the Sharks' special teams have been struggling early on. They're 21st in PP% and 26th in PK%, even after getting off to a good start killing penalties. It's important for the team to improve here, and the sooner the better.
