Preview: San Jose Sharks vs. Washington Capitals
The Sharks take on the Washington Capitals in the first of an extended east coast road trip.
The Sharks embark on their first big road trip of the season, heading to the east coast for a tough slate of games. That schedule starts with Washington, who split the season series with San Jose a season ago. It's always great to see how the Sharks match up against top eastern opponents, and any excuse to see Alexander Ovechkin play is a good one.

Last Meeting
Last meeting: So that Joel Ward guy seems pretty cool. Except for him scoring the game-winner in overtime against the Sharks in the team's last meeting.
Storylines
- An unstoppable force : immovable object :: Capitals PP : Sharks PK. Okay, okay, so we know the Caps' power play is virtually unstoppable, but the Sharks haven't allowed a power play goal all season.
- Can Martin Jones' strong start continue? He's allowed just one goal in his first 120 minutes of play with the Sharks.
- It's a homecoming for Joel Ward, who played with Washington for four seasons. /
