With the final preseason game in the books, it’s time for you to get ready to sit down for another season of San Jose Sharks hockey and this time it counts. So don’t get caught off guard when on Thursday night you sit in front of your television, turn on the TV to NBC Sports California and wait to hear the dulcet tones of Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda only to find that neither one of them is gracing your television with their presence. Sadly, this game is on network television. That’s right, folks, for another year in a row, the powers at the NHL have found that Macklin Celebrini is the true up and coming super star of the NHL and watching him show Tomas Hertl (we still love you, Ninja Hertl) what he’s missing will be the best entertainment of the night.
This is your public service announcement that the Sharks game is on ESPN+. That means that you have to have one of the following:
- A cable television package that includes ESPN+
- YouTube TV
- Hulu + Live TV bundle (I could go into a whole freedom of the press thing here, which to me as a journalist is a triggering issue, but then ESPN is also owned by the same company so … but I digress)
- FUBO
- Sling
- Subscribe to ESPN+
I’m not sure if I’m forgetting one. The point is, you need a television/streaming service of some sort to watch the game and some of these, like Sling and ESPN+, do not include NBC Sports California. In order to get NBC Sports California on your cable television package, you’re going to have to subscribe to the high-end package, which isn’t exactly cost-effective.
Crunch those numbers Sharks fans. Do your homework. Because you don’t want to be left out in the cold. If you don’t mind visualizing, there’s always the Sharks Audio Network. It’s free.
