Quick Bite: Sharks fall to Avalanche as penalties mount
The San Jose Sharks couldn't stay out of the penalty box and it cost them against the Avs.
If the entirety of Monday's 6-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche was played at 6-on-5 the Sharks would have skated out with a 3-1 win. Unfortunately, San Jose couldn't stay out of the penalty box and it cost them against Colorado, who made the Sharks pay four times while down a player.
Tomas Hertl broke a long scoring drought and San Jose poured on pressure throughout the game, but a steady procession of Sharks to the penalty box ensured Colorado would skate away with a victory. The Sharks have now lost 10 games at home this season, which, yes, is the most in the NHL. After killing off nearly every penalty that came their way in December, the Sharks got a visit from the regression monster on Monday.

Not enough? Well, the Sharks don't play again until Wednesday, so that's a couple days to forget about this one.
