Ryan Reaves suspended for three games for boarding Matt Tennyson

St. Louis Blues forward Ryan Reaves boarding of Matt Tennyson earned him a three-game suspension from the NHL Department of Player Safety. Those with good memories will recall the Wheel Of Justice predicted this exact punishment just a few days ago.

Not much to add here, other than this seemed like a pretty obvious call by DoPS. In the video, it’s stated that Tennyson was never eligible to be checked and the fact that Reaves had plenty of time to avoid contact was held against him. Instead, Reaves drove right through Tennyson’s numbers and smashed his right into the boards. You can see the video below.

It’s good to see Reaves punished, of course, but the real concern is with Tennyson’s long term health. We haven’t heard much of anything from the Sharks camp since his injury. It sounds like Tennyson is concussed and will be out for a while. Here’s to hoping for a speedy recovery.
