Sharks announce second preseason cuts

The Sharks have released two prospects from training camp.

The San Jose Sharks have released two forwards from training camp, the Sharks announced Thursday.

Left winger Dillon Hamaliuk, the 55th overall draft pick in 2019, will return to the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets. Hamaliuk played the last two seasons as a member of the Seattle Thunderbirds, where he recorded 66 points in 120 games.

2017 sixth round draft pick, right winger Jake McGrew was also released. McGrew will join the Sharks’ AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. McGrew spent three years in the WHL, where he scored 92 points in 126 games.

McGrew appeared in the Sharks’ first preseason game, a 4-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. He took one shot on goal in ten and a half minutes of ice time. He spent just over two minutes on the penalty kill, the most of any Sharks forward.

The Sharks’ training camp roster is now at 55 players.
