Sharks’ 2021-22 schedule released

After a long season and a half, the NHL is looking forward to getting closer to a season that looks more like it did prior to the pandemic. Though the 2021-22 season will start a couple of weeks later than usual and includes a break in February to allow for participation in the 2022 Olympic Games, things seem to be on track for an 82-game season, where every team will play at least one home and road game against every other team.

The San Jose Sharks will open the season at home, hosting the Winnipeg Jets, as the expectation is that travel will be unrestricted by mid-October. After that, they’ll go on a five-game road trip through Eastern Canada and ending in Nashville. They’ll have three separate five-game road trips, while their longest homestand will be a seven-game stretch through the majority of December.

The Vegas Golden Knights, who lost to the Montreal Canadians in the 2021 Western Conference Final, will host the 2022 NHL All-Star Weekend on Feb. 4-5.

The Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning will visit SAP Center on Jan. 22, 2022. The league’s newest franchise, the Seattle Kraken, will play in San Jose twice, on Dec. 14 and Feb. 27, 2022. The Sharks will close the season against the Kraken, as well, playing at Climate Pledge Arena on April 29, 2022.
