San Jose Sharks acquire Ian White from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a second round pick in 2012

According to numerous outlets, the San Jose Sharks have acquired Ian White from the Carolina Hurricanes. As of this posting, no one other than the aforementioned Derek Joslin have been named in San Jose’s package to acquire White.

White is a strong puck-moving defenseman, who will be able to step in and quarterback the power play when Dan Boyle is taking a breather. Although not a premier shutdown defenseman, White can hold his own in the defensive end and will provide some much needed stability for the Sharks blueline.

This post will be updated with the particulars once they emerge.

[UPDATE]: According to Brodie Brazil, the Sharks give up a second round pick in 2012 for Ian White.
